As a result of climate change and global warming, the average temperature of the earth has risen by about 1.3 degrees and the process shows an upward trend. Climate change significantly affects crop productivity: each 1 degree increase in temperature results in a 6% loss in average yield, a 1.3 degree loss rate of about 7.8%, which is quite a large number for agriculture. Taking into account the dynamics of the development of the process, and the decline in the average yield of agricultural crops recorded in recent years, it can be concluded that those seeds, they are currently used (grain, vegetable-melon and leguminous crops) in the medium term may significantly lose their relevance and a sufficient level of yield, for which, as soon as possible, it is necessary to engage in scientific work on the selection and seed production of drought-resistant and heat-resistant seeds. Research and Production CJSC "Gyumri Breeding Station" has been engaged in this direction since December 2019, as a result of which there are significant achievements at the moment. within the framework of the agreement reached in April between the company and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation "N. S.", the capabilities of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after Vavilov will be jointly used for the implementation of these works. From scientists and researchers of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after him. Vavilov will create a joint working group that will deal with the selection and seed production of seeds (cereals, legumes) of sustainable and heat-resistant crops:
